Amendments to the Energy Efficiency Regulations

Amendments to Canada’s Energy Efficiency Regulations typically follow this public consultation process:

1. Initial notice: Natural Resources Canada’s intent to proceed with the development of an amendment to the Regulations is posted in the Forward Regulatory Plan for the Energy Efficiency Regulations.
2. Pre-consultation: technical bulletins and webinars are posted on the Natural Resources Canada website when the proposed changes would impact Canadians or regulated parties (see current regulatory proposals).
3. Pre-publication: the proposed regulatory amendment is pre-published in the Canada Gazette, Part I for a public comment period when the proposed changes would impact Canadians or regulated parties.
4. Publication: the final version of the regulatory amendment, including revisions and coming into force dates, is published in the Canada Gazette, Part II (see published regulations).
