Project Objectives

The objective of this project is to demonstrate three new distribution grid technologies on Nova Scotia Power’s network, all with the aim of modernising their electricity distribution grid.

Expected Results

This project aims to:

  1. Demonstrate the future potential of the electricity distribution system.
  2. Lay the groundwork for a more reliable, resilient and flexible electricity system.
  3. Establish a path towards lower emissions from electricity generation.
  4. Set a precedent for modernising rural electricity feeders common across Canada.
  5. Expand electricity market access and value streams for customers.
  6. Enable better integration of distributed energy resources such as EVs and solar photovoltaic energy.
  7. Provide financial and operational data to support future grid modernization regulations.
