Project Objectives

The objective of this project is to develop and demonstrate an innovative energy storage and charging system for electric medium and heavy-duty vehicles (MHDVs) that reduces vehicle acquisition costs and addresses battery weight and dimensions limitations.

Expected Results

This project aims to:

  1. Create jobs in research and development, manufacturing, and maintenance of electric vehicles and energy storage systems.
  2. Reduce emissions from MHDVs, especially for urban vocations like garbage trucks and sweepers.
  3. Improve air quality and reduce noise pollution from conventional engines.
  4. Lower total ownership costs for fleet operators, particularly for municipal fleets operating various vocational vehicles in urban areas.
  5. Improve vehicle cost-efficiency through regenerative braking, weight reduction, lower engine strain, lower maintenance costs, and distributed charging for grid stability.
