Project Objectives

The objective of this project is to synthesize and optimize the Proponent’s lithium iron phosphate (LFP) product from alternative feedstocks.

Expected Results

This project aims to:

  1. Strengthen the local battery supply chain by diversifying feedstocks for LFP production, a key lithium-ion battery component for stationary energy storage and affordable EVs.
  2. Support and expand local employment while prioritizing local sourcing of materials and services.
  3. Enhance supply chain resilience and flexibility to the Proponent’s simplified, less wasteful cathode active material production method, lowering costs and environmental impact.
  4. Fill a midstream gap in Canada’s battery value chain by adding value to raw materials and supplying key production input to manufacturers and original equipment manufacturers.
