Project Objectives
The objective of this project is to synthesize and optimize the Proponent’s lithium iron phosphate (LFP) product from alternative feedstocks.
Expected Results
This project aims to:
- Strengthen the local battery supply chain by diversifying feedstocks for LFP production, a key lithium-ion battery component for stationary energy storage and affordable EVs.
- Support and expand local employment while prioritizing local sourcing of materials and services.
- Enhance supply chain resilience and flexibility to the Proponent’s simplified, less wasteful cathode active material production method, lowering costs and environmental impact.
- Fill a midstream gap in Canada’s battery value chain by adding value to raw materials and supplying key production input to manufacturers and original equipment manufacturers.
