Project Objectives

The objective of this project is to build on previous NRCan-funded work through the Indigenous Off-Diesel Initiative (IODI). In the first three phases of IODI the Hailzaqv Climate Action Team selected a local energy champion and team that participated in training, led community engagement, developed the Hailzaqv Community Energy Plan (CEP), and began implementation planning for the CEP. This fourth Phase of IODI will focus on implementing specified CEP activities.

Expected Results

This project aims to:

  1. Improve community capacity for local renewable generation and energy efficiency to improve affordability, reliability, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in remote communities.
  2. Create local sustainable employment, reduce diesel use, lower emissions, and save costs for homeowners and communities.
