Project Objectives

The objective of this project is to complete the engineering, pre-construction and site preparation activities to establish a net-zero manufacturing facility in Baker Lake, Nunavut that will build up to 25 energy efficient modular houses per year.

Expected Results

This project aims to:

  1. Manufacture energy efficient homes in Nunavut delivering social, economic and environmental benefits to strengthen Canadian communities.
  2. Establish a replicable model for other northern and remote communities.
  3. Increase housing stock to enhance stability and security, build local capacity, increase training and employment opportunities; and provide energy efficient homes with lower energy costs.
