Project Objectives

The objective of the project is to demonstrate the viability of the design and construction of a university science building to Zero Carbon Building standards in the Yukon, including renewable energy generation and net-zero building operations.

Expected Results

This project aims to:

  1. Demonstrate replicable design solutions for the construction of zero carbon buildings in the North to reduce climate impacts.
  2. Minimize environmental impacts of the new building and demonstrate a zero-carbon building in the North.
  3. Provide an opportunity for building users to get hands-on experience related to zero carbon buildings including renewable energy generation.
  4. Increase energy efficiency and reduce heating costs for the Proponent.
