Supporting the HVAC* industry, codes & standards development, and government programs through product testing

Project location: CanmetENERGY Ottawa, Ottawa, ON

Timeline: 5 years (2023-2028)

Program: Funded by the Program of Energy R&D and cost-recovery projects with industry

Overview and Capabilities

Capabilities and advantages of Testing Facilities

CanmetENERGY's state-of-the-art testing facilities offer the HVAC industry a unique advantage:

  • Validate performance: Test your next-generation HVAC equipment (heat pumps, thermal storage, hydrogen blends) under real-world Canadian conditions, accelerating development and reducing costs.
  • Meet evolving standards: Ensure your products comply with the latest performance requirements from CSA, ASHRAE, and government programs, staying ahead of the curve.
  • Gain a competitive edge: Develop market-ready solutions that address energy efficiency and clean energy goals, giving you an edge in the marketplace.

Knowledge Transfer for Impact

  • Standards Bodies & Government Programs: We provide reliable data to inform performance standards for space heating, water heating, and ventilation technologies. This data supports evidence-based policy for effective housing and building energy programs.
  • Collaboration: We partner with stakeholders like CSA, ASHRAE, and government agencies to shape the future of Canadian HVAC standards.
