Attention Canada Greener Homes Grant program participants
Due to overwhelming demand for the Canada Greener Homes Grant (CGHG), all available funding has been allocated, and the program will conclude earlier than originally planned.
Please be advised the final date to complete your journey and request your grant payment is December 31, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. (ET).
Homeowners in Ontario and Nova Scotia who are participating in the Home Energy Rebate Plus program or the Home Energy Assessment program should direct any questions to their respective provincial programs.
Quebec homeowners: The Rénoclimat program has communicated its specific end date for Quebec participants. Consult the Rénoclimat website for complete information.
Please be aware that requests for grant payments made after December 31, 2025, will not be processed.
To ensure your application is successfully processed, please plan to complete the following steps by the December 31, 2025, deadline:
- Complete a pre-retrofit EnerGuide evaluation
If you haven’t already done so, schedule and complete a pre-retrofit EnerGuide evaluation as soon as possible. - Complete and pay for your eligible retrofits
Finish and pay for the retrofits you selected from those recommended by your energy advisor which are listed in your Renovation Upgrade Report. Remember to keep copies of your receipts. - Schedule and complete your post-retrofit EnerGuide evaluation
Work with your energy advisor to schedule and complete a post-retrofit EnerGuide evaluation as soon as your retrofits are done. We recommend that you complete your post-retrofit evaluation as soon as possible, and at least several weeks before December 31, 2025, to ensure that you meet the grant deadline.
Important: After your post-retrofit evaluation is completed, your service organization will need time to submit your EnerGuide evaluations to Natural Resources Canada (NRCan)—this can take up to 30 business days. Please keep this timing in mind considering the final deadline of December 31, 2025. - Upload receipts and required documentation
Once your post-retrofit EnerGuide evaluation is submitted to NRCan, you will be notified by email to log into the Greener Homes portal to confirm your grant amount. At this time, you must also upload to your application in the Greener Homes portal all receipts showing that payment has been made in full as well as any other required documents. - Request your grant
Once all your documents are uploaded, click the green button marked “Receipts have been uploaded, and I am ready to request the grant”. You must do so by December 31, 2025.

NRCan continues to work to implement the Canada Greener Homes Affordability Program (CGHAP), which will offer additional home retrofit opportunities for eligible Canadians. More information will be available on the CGHAP page as it becomes available.
Attention Service organizations and energy advisors
Service organizations and energy advisors play a critical role in the successful completion of the Canada Greener Homes Grant (CGHG) program.
With the December 31, 2025, deadline fast approaching, we encourage you to support homeowners by providing timely evaluations and guidance throughout their retrofit journey. As the demand for your services may increase, proactive communication and planning are essential to ensure that all participants can meet the submission timeline.
Attention Industry stakeholders
We recognize the impact of the Canada Greener Homes Grant (CGHG) program on the broader industry stakeholders, including contractors, manufacturers and suppliers across the entire value chain of energy efficiency upgrades and retrofits.
The December 31, 2025, deadline for grant requests may affect project timelines and demand for services.
Here are the steps homeowners must complete by the December 31, 2025 deadline:
- Complete and pay for their eligible retrofits
- Complete their post-retrofit EnerGuide evaluation and have their service organization submit their EnerGuide reports to NRCan or to their provincial program
- Ensure all receipts and any other required documents are submitted and received by NRCan or by their provincial program; and
- Make a grant request.
Depending on whether the homeowner is participating in provincial co-delivery programs or in the national portal, details may vary. However, in all cases, requests for grant payments made after the deadline will not be processed.
This deadline only applies to the Canada Greener Homes Grant program and not to the Oil to Heat Pump Affordability (OHPA) program where business remains as usual. NRCan continues to work on the delivery of the upcoming Canada Greener Homes Affordability Program, which will offer additional home retrofit programming for eligible Canadians. NRCan will share more information as it becomes available.
